Grumpy Days

My, do they happen to me. Have you felt them? You have a deep angry knot in your stomach that you don’t know where it came from or how to get rid of it. I might just be crazy, which is so possible, but I think this is universal.

I honestly am not the expert to getting rid of these moody days, but I have my own ways of coping when everyone and everything bothers me.

  1. I do my yoga. I’ll talk more about how yoga has affected my life in another blog, but for now, I’ll tell you how calming it is. Not only does it usually cool me down, but it distracts me and gives me something to do instead of lash out.
  2. I EAT. Have you seen Joey on Friends? I eat like him and get cranky like him when he isn’t fed. This has been my temperament since I was a child. My mom tells me I would be a perfect angel, then in an instant, an uncontrollable monster. Orange juice apparently is what they used to calm me when I was younger. Now it’s usually soup.
  3. Drinking tea is another thing that I do that forces me to shut up and calm down. Boiling the water, and steeping the bag, and stirring in the honey is like meditation to me.
  4. Essential oils are wonderful. On really bad days, I fill my diffuser with yummy smelling oils and just sit and breathe them in. Again, it’s another form of meditation.
  • Being calm and happy all of the time DOESN’T happen to anyone ever. Grumpy days exist and if you leave them unattended, you can really be a thorn. I feel that it’s my responsibility to not be a jerk. Even if that means sitting in my room alone and avoiding being unforgivably unpleasant.
  • I hope you find stillness and calm on your grumpy days.
  • Until next time,
  • Julia
